What we store
ground looper stores the loops you name, your daily entries (completions, slip-ups, mood, energy, optional notes), and your account email if you register.
A seeded demo account exists so the bench can be tried without signup. Do not put secrets in the demo.
We do not sell your logs. Password-reset mail, when configured, is sent only to the address you give us.
Apple Health
Apple Health is optional, read-only, and iPhone-only. ground looper never writes anything back to Health.
Connecting Health on the iPhone reads only the metrics you select — steps, sleep duration, resting heart rate, active energy — and uses them to draw the chart on that phone. Connecting alone sends nothing to your account.
Sharing those readings with your account is a second, separate choice. When it is on, the phone uploads one number per day per selected metric, and nothing else:
- the date, the metric, the value, and its unit
- the time zone the day was measured in
- how complete the day is, how fresh the reading is, and when it was observed
- ids that identify the phone's connection and the version of that day's number
That is the whole list. Raw samples, individual readings, sample identifiers, and the names of the apps or devices the readings came from stay on the phone.
You can see the most recent 30 days, and nothing older is ever shown or returned. A nightly job does the actual deleting, and it works in a single timezone rather than yours, so for up to a day a database row a day or two past that window can still exist before it is removed.
Loops that complete themselves
Automatic completion is off until you turn on a rule, and every rule names one loop you picked.
When a rule fires, the phone tells your account which loop and rule, which date, when it happened, and the smallest possible evidence: that your step goal was met, or that a confirmed departure happened. Your step count is not sent. Your location is not sent.
Every automatic completion says where it came from and can be undone with one tap. Completing or clearing a loop by hand always wins, and keeps winning for that day until you choose to resume automation.
Your home area
Setting a home area for the "leaving home" rule stores its coordinates only on that iPhone, in private app storage that is excluded from device backups and that the widget and the watch app cannot read. Your coordinates are never uploaded, and we could not show them to you on the web if you asked.
What your account stores is an opaque id for the home you set — a random label that says a rule belongs to this home rather than a previous one. It reveals nothing about where you live. ground looper does not track your location, keep a route, or run continuous GPS.
Turning it off
The chart, health sharing, and automatic completion are three separate switches, and each one can be turned off on its own. Turning any of them off never stops you logging loops by hand.
Turning sharing off stops uploads and leaves what you already sent paused until it expires or you delete it. "Delete synced and imported health data" removes every health summary from your account straight away, and tells the phone to clear its own cache. Your loop history stays — a day you completed stays completed.
Health readings and locations never go into our logs, into analytics, or into a web address. ground looper has no analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting service in it, on the web or on the phone, so there is nobody else to send them to.
Deleting your account and exporting your data
From Settings, you can export all your loops and daily entries as a JSON file (download only; we never email it). To delete your account entirely, Settings offers account deletion: re-enter your password, type "DELETE", and your account and all its data are removed from our servers. You'll be signed out of the app.
Data processors
Your data is processed by:
- Neon — our PostgreSQL database host.
- AWS — cloud hosting for the service.
- Resend — email delivery for password resets and verification.
